To ensure accuracy in Vedic tradition which was predominantly an oral tradition, I came across the mechanism of introducing Vikrutis while chanting the Vedic slokas. There are eight of them which rearranges the words in a verse using specific algebraic rules. More research (from the mathematical side) is required to establish, How such an arrangement (or Vikruti) or words (padas) implements "error checking" mechanism. It is fascinating that people in Vedic age had a strategy which not only detects error but also corrects them!
I could not find a reference which lists all the Vikrutis, their primary source (e.g. sloka) along with few examples. Although many online blogs and commentaries explain Vikrutis but I don't trust their authenticity.
Can anyone please help me with some textbook or paper which explains the rules to construct the eight different Vikrutis ? Moreover, Vikrutis can have different forms e.g. mala vikruti has pushpa-maala (flower garland) and Krama-maala as two forms
I hope my query fits to the interests of the group & Rajiv ji
Thank you & Best Regards,
